THE BASIC PARTS

The controller is programmed with start time, run time, and days for each zone. At 6 AM, it might open Valve 1 for 12 minutes to run the front lawn sprinklers. At 6:15 AM, it closes Valve 1 and opens Valve 2 for 30 minutes to run drip lines in the back garden.

Pressure regulators and filters keep things consistent. Drip systems especially need filters because a single grain of sand can clog a 1 mm emitter. Pressure that’s too high turns drip into a spray and blows out fittings.
